DLF stake buy

New Delhi, April 24: Realty major DLF’s subsidiary Caraf has consolidated its holding in DLF Assets Ltd (DAL) through the purchase of convertible shares from private equity firm SC Asia for Rs 3,084.68 crore. Caraf, which has recently been merged with DLF, is the holding company of DAL that was set up by DLF promoters to buy commercial properties.

Vietnam plan

Calcutta, April 24: The Vietnam government is lobbying with Indian educational institutions for greater co-operation. The ambassador of Vietnam to India, Vu Quang Diem, today said the government was also in talks with Indian universities to explore possible ventures in Vietnam. The ambassador said Vietnam was trying to have direct airlinks between India and Vietnam.

Pfizer win

Washington, April 24: Pfizer Inc’s Wyeth unit and Altana AG have won a verdict on the validity of their patent for heartburn drug Protonix. A federal jury has rejected arguments by Teva Pharmaceutical and Sun Pharma that the patent covered an obvious variation of the earlier patented compounds in the same family as Protonix.
