Lajong stun Mahindra

Shillong: Hosts Lajong FC came back from behind to shock Mahindra United 2-1 in a thrilling I-League encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, here on Saturday.

Mahindra drew the first blood in the eighth minute when Mohammed Rafi’s header off a Svetozar Mijin cross found the net.

In the 53rd minute, Anil Gurung took a powerful shot that ricocheted off the crosspiece and Boithang Haokip slotted home the equaliser.

In the 86th minute, James Gbilee lobbed the ball from the right into the box to find Daniel Bidemi who headed it in to secure three precious points for his club.

In Margao, Junior struck twice as Sporting Clube de Goa ended Churchill Brothers’ hopes of retaining the title with a 2-1 victory.

In Ludhiana, Henry scored a hattrick to help JCT crush Viva Kerala 5-1.

Henry found the net in the third, 26th and 75th minute while Okoro scored in the 55th and 65th minutes.
