The Natural Way

I am a 15-year-old girl. I have acne all over my face, chest and back and they leave dark spots when they dry. How can I get rid of the marks?

Rai Ganguly, e-mail

Acne is very common at this age but with along with hormonal changes it is also important for you, as an youngster, to incorporate some lifestyle changes. Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water daily and avoid aerated drinks. Include lots of fresh vegetables, fruits and salads in your diet and avoid sweets, fried food and heavy gravy-based food. Exercise — it helps improve blood circulation and prevents the skin from looking dull and it will also help flush out toxins from your body. Keep your skin oil-free. For this take a handful of fresh mint leaves and grind to a paste. Add 2 drops of clove oil, half a tsp of camphor and add 2tsp fuller’s earth and some rose water. Apply this on the skin and let dry. Wash off with cold water from the refrigerator. Do this daily. You will see a difference within a week.

I am 23 years old. I have got laughter lines around my mouth area. What can I do to get rid of them?

Sayani, e-mail

Massage the area with 2tsp each of coconut and almond oil mixed together on alternate days. Take a paste of pure sandalwood and mix in half a teaspoon of China clay and apply it as a mask after massaging the skin. Let dry and wash off. The laughter lines may be hereditary and not necessarily due to wrinkles or dryness, so take care of your skin and keep laughing without a worry!
