New Delhi, April 11 (PTI): The government has extended tax concessions on interest paid on educational loans to all streams of studies, including vocational courses.

The change will benefit all those in vocational programmes and arts and commerce courses. The concession was so far restricted to graduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, medicine and management, and postgraduate courses in applied or pure sciences, including math and statistics.

The new tax sops will apply to loans taken in 2009-10 and later, a finance ministry official said.
