Druglord arrested
Dibrugarh, April 10:
Elahi Sheikh, the kingpin of illegal drug trade here, was arrested early this morning by police from his residence in the Kalibari area. However, no recovery was made during the raid. The druglord had been arrested earlier too.
Leader visit
Dibrugarh:
Imran Kidwai, the chairman of the All India Congress Committee’s minority department, on Saturday reached here on a two-day visit to take stock of the plight of the minorities in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts. Kidwai will address a public rally at Digboi on Sunday.
Opium arrest
Silchar:
The BSF and Mizoram police on Friday nabbed two Myanmarese narcotics smugglers, Dolian Khaia, 19, and Thanglian Khupa, at Bawngkawn in Aizawl while transporting 670grams of opium.

Guwahati:
Excise personnel seized 50kg of opium from the house of a vegetable vendor, Bipul Dey, at Basistha Tiniali area, on Saturday and arrested him.
