Bhujia baron

Prabhu Shankar Agarwal, the Haldiram’s owner serving a life term at Alipore Central jail, was admitted to the cardiology department of SSKM Hospital on Thursday night after he complained of chest pain. Doctors said his condition was stable and he would undergo an angiography on Monday.

Robbery

Insiders were involved in the robbery of cash and jewellery worth Rs 1 crore from a courier company office in Ankurhati, Howrah, on Wednesday night, CID officials said on Friday.

Rape arrest

Saikat Guha and Suman Das, in their 30s, were arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a minor at Netai Charan Chakravorty Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital in Liluah. A sweeper at the hospital is absconding.

French award

The Prime Minister of France has conferred the Knighthood of the Palmes Académiques on Chinmoy Guha, a professor at Calcutta University and a French scholar.
