2 killed

Guwahati, March 23: Two persons, Naba Sarkar and Ranjan Das, were killed and four others were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned at Khetri, on the outskirts of the city, around 10.30am today.

Agro fair

Imphal: Manipur Governor Gurbachan Jagat inaugurated a four-day Northeast Agri-Fair at the Central Agriculture University at Eroisemba in Imphal West on Tuesday.

AC coach

Guwahati: The NF Railway on Tuesday announced that an additional air-conditioned chair-car coach has been attached to the 2067/2068 Janshatabdi Express on a temporary basis to help clear the rush of passengers.

Dharna

Jorhat: The Jorhat unit of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad staged a dharna at Jorhat railway station on Tuesday demanding that the station be declared an A-grade one. The AJYCP also sent a memorandum to railway minister Mamata Banerjee.

Cancer funds

Guwahati: The management council of B. Borooah Cancer Institute, under the chairmanship of R. A. Badwe, director, Tata Memorial Centre, on Monday approved Rs 28 crore for the financial year 2010-11 to upgrade the institute’s infrastructure.
