Jorhat, March 23: Tezpur Academy Higher Secondary School and Don Bosco High School, Diphu, entered the pre-quarterfinals of the Dilip Sarma Trophy inter-district school (under-15) cricket tournament under way here.
The Tezpur school defeated Dhemaji Public School by 99 runs at the Jorhat District Sports Association ground while the Diphu boys prevailed over Karimganj Public School by five wickets at the Jorhat Stadium.
Tezpur Academy, electing to bat first, piled up 245 runs losing eight wickets in the stipulated 35 overs and the Dhemaji school were all out for 146 in 23.2 overs.
Rajakuddin Ahmed topscored for Tezpur Academy with 96, while Diganta Das (32), Juniuddin Ahmed (31) and Bhaskar Mech (25) were the other notable scorers for the side. Robin Chetia and Saurav Deb of Dhemaji claimed two wickets each.
Pabitra Bhuyan (39) and Nabajit Deuri Borpujari (17) were the only notable Dhemaji batsmen. Juniudduin Ahmed and Diganta Das of the Tezpur side took four wickets each.
In the other match, the Karimganj school were skitted out for 67 runs in 23.2 overs and Don Bosco achieved the target losing five wickets in 15.4 overs.
