Chetri to join MLS club
New Delhi: Sunil Chetri would take no further part in the I-League as he has been released by the Dempo SC to join a Major League Soccer (MLS) club in the US. According to Dempo sources, Chetri would be joining the Kansas City Wizards who are expected to open their league campaign next month. “We have decided to release Chetri as per our agreement with him,” said a Dempo official.
India chance
New Delhi: India, placed eighth in the hockey World Cup, may get a chance to play in the elite six-nation Champions Trophy as the FIH has planned to award two wild card entries. The event, it was learnt, is likely to become a biennial one from 2012. Meanwhile, the FIH has asked Hockey India to hold the long overdue elections by May 31 or face immediate suspension.
