Rebel killed
Imphal, March 6:
A joint team of police commandos and Assam Rifles shot dead an unidentified militant at Thiyam in Manipur’s Thoubal district today.
Two dead
Dhubri:
Two persons — Kuddus Ali, 5, and Afjal Ali, 55 — died while three were injured in separate road accidents in Dhubri district on Saturday.
Fire damage
Dhubri:
Aruna Paul, 65, was injured while 12 houses and property worth Rs 30 lakh were gutted near Shekherulla Memorial Lower Primary School on Amco Road on the outskirts of Dhubri town on Saturday.
Two injured
Imphal:

Mishap
Guwahati:

Guwahati:
R.P. Singh, the former chairman of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, has been nominated as the chairman of the board of governors of IIT, Guwahati, with effect from February 8 for a period of three years.
Protest
Guwahati, March 6:
The All Guwahati Students’ Union today accused the state government of trying to protect the culprits of the February 1 incident when a girl student of Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School made an abortive suicide bid after being scolded by a teacher.
