A ritz affair
q:Im planning to buy a four wheeler within Rs 4 lakh. Were a family of three. Our average running per month will be between 800km and 1000km. Please recommend a comfortable car, which will give us good performance, good mileage, low maintenance costs and easy manoeuvring in the city and over long distances.

a:The best car in this segment is slightly above your budget, so if you can stretch it a bit, we suggest you go for the Ritz. Its spacious, comfy and quite at ease on the highway. Another possible option could be the Hyundai i10.
city lights
q:I am a student and I want a car within Rs 10 lakh. It should look classy, sporty, give good mileage and should be fuel efficient as well. It should also be spacious and comfortable. Ill drive it to college. Which car will suit my needs?

a:The Honda City will be right for you. It gives back 10kpl and 17kpl in the city and on the highway respectively and is quite roomy. If youre the more adventurous type, you could also look at the Ford Fiesta S. If its attention you seek, driving up to college in any of these cars will get you just that.
a star to drive
q:I want a car between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 4 lakh. I like Maruti A-star for its mileage and good looks. Space is not a problem for me. I rarely it on roads so Im confused about buying it. I travel 200km a month.

a:The small boot and cramped seats are the reasons for you not seeing many A-stars on the road. But the car is very good to drive. It looks great and comes well equipped. If space is not a concern, go ahead and buy one.
