Lufthansa pilots call off strike

Lufthansa pilots have withdrawn their strike, an airline official said on Tuesday. The German carrier’s flight on Tuesday had to be cancelled because of the agitation. The Calcutta-Frankfurt flight on Thursday would operate on schedule, added the official. B>nSpecial trains: Eastern Railway will run three special trains from Howrah station for Holi. A special train between Howrah and Patna will start at 8.15pm on February 26 and reach Patna at 5.50am, the next day. The other two trains will run between Howrah and Gorakhpur. The train will start from Howrah at noon on February 27 and reach Gorakhpur at 7.55am, the next day. The train from Gorakhpur will start at 3.15pm on March 3 and arrive in Howrah at 1.10pm, the next day.

Girl death: A 16-year-old girl who was to sit for Madhyamik this year died at Khardah Balaram Hospital on Tuesday, allegedly because of medical negligence. Police said Barnali Sarkar, a resident of Panihati Seth Colony, was hospitalised on Monday after she complained of severe headache. Barnali’s family lodged a police complaint on Tuesday alleging that no doctor had attended to her. The hospital superintendent has ordered an inquiry.

Mishap: A cyclist was critically injured after being hit by a car on Maniktala Main Road on Monday. Mohammad Sabir, 60, was taken to RG Kar hospital, police said.
