Sakshi Somani, 25, loves to experiment. So, when this mother of two-year-old Yashita chanced upon the opportunity for a makeover by designer Agnimitra Paul, she was more than game for it…
First stop was Rapunzel where hairstylist Michelle directed Sakshi to the shampoo section. A thorough wash with Wella Bio Touch later, Sakshi was given a disconnected look — roughly translated as being long in the back and short in front. Her crown is very flat and she has a round face, so this cut will give her a contoured look, said the expert. Agnimitra nodded in agreement, saying that the look was easy to maintain. The cut was followed by a colour job in which brown and blonde strands played peek-a-boo. Finally, LOreals Hair Fixer was followed by a spray of hair glitter.
The two then left for Agnimitras house, where make-up artist Sudip Bhattacharya was ready with his kit. Before the base, Sakshis face was given a wet tissue wipe. When Agnimitra suggested a light base, Sudip slapped on Kryolans FS 28 followed by a liquid base from MAC for a smoother feel. A light powder brush sealed the deal.
For the eyes, Sudip chose VOVs red and pink eyeshadow, MACs red and gold highlighter and more orange and pink shimmer from VOV. MACs gold eyeshadow and kajal was next. The pencil was then smudged and blue and green eye-shadow on the upper eyelid accentuated the smoky effect. On the eyebrows, he gave Sakshi a touch of black and brown eyeshadow and shaped it with a mascara brush. LOreals Extra Volume Mascara and VOVs blue mascara completed the look. Gold and pink blush from Etude House was applied on the cheeks and flesh-coloured blush was used to contour the nose and chin. A rub of peach blush to go with the flowing dress capped it off.
Lips were then lined with bright red LOreal lip-liner. Adding more shine was MACs red lipstick.
Agnimitra chose one of her floor-kissing, tiered, sleeveless georgette gowns with a net yoke in vibrant shades of orange, red and pink. A black stole set Sakshi up for an evening do. An emerald ring, bracelets and earrings in semi-precious stones complemented the outfit.
Agnimitra: I really like her change. She has good height and that is why I gave her a gown. This kind of hairstyle goes well with a gown. She is looking so regal.
Sakshi: I enjoyed it and am feeling pretty good.
P.S.: Later in the day, Sakshi headed for a party where she was showered with compliments. And her mom-in-law loved it, too!
