Seized

Guwahati, Jan. 15: A team of Kamrup police seized and destroyed marijuana plants worth over Rs 30 lakh in the Sontoli area of Kamrup district today. The team tracked illicit plantations and burnt down marijuana plants weighing nearly 25 quintal. No one was arrested as the cultivators were absconding.

Arrested

Dhubri: Army apprehended four suspected Ulfa militants from Surya Pahar under Naranarayan river police station of Goalpara district early on Friday. A pistol, a revolver and two hand grenades were recovered from their possession.

Bodo rebel

Kokrajhar: Security forces arrested NDFB cadre Sinnat Narzary from Dhigolipur under Bismuri police outpost on Thursday night. A gun and live ammunition were recovered from his possession.

New hostel

Kokrajhar: BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary inaugurated a boys’ hostel building of Brahma Sewa Ashram, a Bodo-medium school, at Amritpur in Gossaigaon on Friday.

Suspects held

Nagaon: Police arrested Wahidur Rehman and Faruq Ahmed, from Lanka here in connection with the killing of Bidhan Pal in the same area on January 10.
