Dacoit on the run nabbed

Mohammad Rafique, a dacoit on the run for the past four months, after fleeing from police custody, was arrested in Topsia on Wednesday. fficers said Rafique was sentenced to life for murdering a shop employee during a burglary and had served 10 years before fleeing on August 17. He had fled from jail earlier too, the police said. n Wednesday, Rafique had gone to Topsia to borrow money from his friends when he was nabbed. A number of dacoity cases were pending against him, the police said.

Power supply: Power supply might be disrupted at South City Mall and residential complex and in the Selimpur, Gariahat Road, Lake Gardens, Lake Colony, Gobindapur, Poddar Park, Jodhpur Park, Prince Anwar Shah Road, Deshpran Sasmal Road, Chanditala, Nandalal Mitra Road, Kings Road, Kudghat, Babubagan and Dhakuria Road areas between 9am and noon on Thursday because of maintenance work by CESC.

Suicide: Punam Chidawala, 20, allegedly killed herself by jumping off her parents’ fifth- floor flat in Shibpur at 6am on Wednesday. Police said Punam married Phoolbagan resident Vishal Chidawala, 26, a year ago and had a boy a month back. She was living with her parents for the past month.

Molest in school: Gopal Krishna Karmakar, 67, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a Class IV student of a school in Jorabagan where he worked. Police said Karmakar committed the crime after classes gave over. The girl’s parents lodged a police complaint after she told them about the incident

Conductor held: The conductor of a private bus plying on route 72 was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a civic cop on Mahatma Gandhi Road.
