Handball team

Imphal: Altogether 15 handball players have been named to represent Manipur in the 38th Women’s Handball Championship to be held at Nagpur from January 17 to 22. The team: S. Promila, Th. Priyadarshini, Ch. Manileima, O. Sandhyarani, L. Anita, L. Shanti, A. Rebika, N. Sunibala, Ch. Laxmi, L. Ibechaobi, H. Renuka, A. Sheila, Sh. Inaocha, O. Sanathoi and Ng. Khombiton Devi. Reserve bench: Th. Kamala, A. Bijenti and Rk. Sunita.

Felicitation

Imphal: Cadet Khangjrakpam Arjun (centre in Telegraph picture above), who scaled Mount Banderpunch in Garhwal Himalayas, was feted by the Manipur Mountaine-ering and Trekking Association at its office at Minuthong on Sunday.

Course

Guwahati: A three-day Level-O trainers’ course from the East Zone got under way on Sunday. Altogether 25 trainers from Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Nagaland, Bengal, Jharkhand, Tripura and Assam are attending the course conducted by BCCI senior trainer Kinjal Suratwala.

Boxing team

Guwahati: The Assam Amateur Boxing Association on Saturday named a 21-member state squad for the 1st North East Boxing Championship to be held here from January 5 to 7. The squad- Women: Jahnabi Gogoi, Linamoni Gogoi, Papori Shyam, Pwilao Basumatary, Anjali Muchahary, Protima Mondiya, Nomita Kachari, Tulika Gowala, Alary Boro, Bhagyawati Kachari; Men: Bikash Shah, Mintu Thapa, Nobojyoti Saikia, Gobin Thapa, Raju Gogoi, Nijwm Narzary and Amarjyoti Saikia.

U-13 cricket

Guwahati: Don Bosco High School thrashed Maharishi Vidya Mandir by 130 runs in the inaugural match of the Shaikh Brothers Centenary (125 Years) Cup invitation inter-school (under-13) cricket tournament at Latasil ground here on Sunday. The Bosconians posted 159 for seven in 30 overs and the Vidya Mandir boys were skittled out for 29 in 8.4 overs.
