Assam mishaps
Kokrajhar, Jan. 2: Two persons were killed and 17 injured in a series of road mishaps in Chirang and Kokrajhar districts since last evening.
Nijam Basumatary, 25, died at Ballamguri Puradia in Chirang district, while Kailash Wary, 28, died on the spot after his motorcycle collided with a minibus near Sunduri.
Arrested
Dhubri: Six persons accused in the murder of Minarool Hoque, 18, were arrested by South Salmara police on Saturday.
Man dies
Dhubri: Kasem Ali, 35, a resident of Bhaismara village died of suspected food poisoning at Poitari Bazar in Goalpara district on Friday night.
Fake notes
Guwahati: Police recovered fake US currency from an abandoned bag at the Assam State Transport Corporation bus station at Paltan Bazar here on Saturday.

Imphal: Revolutionary Peoples Front on Saturday denied the charge by police that the persons arrested during a weeklong operation last month from different places were cadres of the Peoples Liberation Army. |
