TELEVISION 2010
BINGO!

In 2009, soaps went small town and reality TV ranged from jungle jaunts to fake marriages. Here’s what to expect in 2010...

Abhishek Bachchan debuts on TV
If AB Sr grabbed eyeballs as Pop Philosopher-cum-host on Bigg Boss 3 in 2009, it’s now the turn of Ab Jr to jump on the reality TV bandwagon. Starting this month, Abhishek Bachchan will don the host’s hat for Bingo, an interactive game show that not only tests a contestant’s laziness quotient but also rewards him for it! A suave host, starry guests, an interesting format — keep your eyes on this one.
Yash Raj goes small screen
Starting tonight, Yash Raj Films will screen five new shows on Sony Entertainment Television. From romance (Mahi Way) to relationships (Rishta.com) and from sci-fi (Seven) to the underworld (Powder), weekend programming in the new year looks very promising. The pick of the lot? Karan Johar (in picture right with Yash Chopra) returns as talk show host with a superstar-fan show, Lift Kara De.

Fiction rules
Soppy soaps cholchhe cholbe with every channel lining up a slew of TRP-grabbers this year. Colors has already set the ball rolling with its brand new shows Laagi Tujhse Lagan and Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam.

Reality shows — a dime a dozen
Roadies to Bigg Boss, Sach Ka Saamna to Splitsvilla, reality TV will show no signs of slowing down as small screen honchos scratch their heads to come up with newer formats. Sample: 2010 will see Mahayatra on STAR Plus — a reality show in which 12 families will compete, Amazing Race style, to be the first to journey across
25 pilgrimage places!

Swayamvars he & she
After Rakhi Sawant, Rahul Mahajan will try his luck at a swayamvar this year with Rahul Dulhania Le Jaayega where 16 hopefuls from across the country will vie to become Mrs Mahajan.
And after a failed season one, there is a strong buzz that Rakhi Sawant is dolling up for part two!
