It’s time to ring in the new. So gear up to shake a leg while the mercury dips and 2010 sweeps in. Here we go with The Telegraph guide to the most happening party zones — the hottest and the coolest ones in town on December 31.

Venue: Savin Waterpark at Dagapur, off NH55.
Time: 8pm till past midnight.
Pocket pinch: Rs 1,500 for couples and Rs 1,000 for single entry. Charges include dinner.
If you want to have a cool time on a cold winter night, the Beach Party is the place to be. Savin has promised performances by Tanishq from Calcutta and item girl Angelina will set the dance floor on fire.
“We will have the DJ belting out popular numbers for those who want to hit the dance floor. A variety of delicacies will be served by the best caterers in town. We expect a footfall of more than 1,000 people,” said Alok Bhattacharjee, manager (administration), Savin Water Park.
Orchid Restaurant
Venue: The Orchid Banquet and Restaurant at Uttorayon Township off NH31
Time: 8pm till past midnight.
Pocket pinch: Rs 1,200 for one person, Rs 2,000 for a couple. Charges include dinner
The restaurant promises a perfect blend of good food and entertainment. Watch pole dancer Koli as you enjoy crispy chilly babycorn or raise a toast to the free welcome drinks. There will be lucky draws for the guests where they can win gifts.
“We have invited DJ Jenny and dance troupe Kaal Chakra to entertain guests throughout the night. A menu has been prepared especially for the New Year Eve party with Oriental and Indian delicacies. The gifts of the lucky draw will be a surprise,” said Avijit Banerjee, manager (food and beverages), Ambuja Realty Hospitality Division.
Sinclairs Retreat (in association with The Telegraph)
Venue: Sinclairs Retreat, Chalsa in the Dooars, 60km from Siliguri
Time: From 8pm till past midnight.
Pocket pinch: Rs 5,500 for a couple and Rs 1,200 for anyone above 12 years. For children below 12 years it is Rs 600
There will be bonfires to keep the guests warm and the DJ will play popular Bollywood numbers. The venue set amid the serenity of forests is a haven for those wanting to escape the din of the town.
“At Countdown to 2010 our guests can dance to the remixes played by the DJ. There will be a gala buffet and cocktail snacks for everyone,” a hotel source said.
