Club call: The red and white Christmas decor is inspired by Santa’s cap. With a repertoire of English pop music from the 60s and 70s, Kolors will warm the night up, interspersed with dance performances by Padatik and DJ beats. The sprawling Tea Lawns will host the bash, with seating to relax as well as a dance floor for happy feet. The elaborate Christmas dinner buffet will comprise Indian favourites. Book ahead for the spread by the swimming pool.

“Our luxurious, exciting, long and warm friendship, with a touch of Black Dog, has brought us and the Royals to another sparkling Christmas,” said Kaushik Chatterjee, EVP and COO, USL (RPC-east).

Voiceover: “What is of utmost importance is that our members and their guests are comfortable. RCGC is a sports club and our members are used to wide open spaces and a no-rush, elegant and relaxed atmosphere. We are trying to create that ambience and are expecting about 600-plus people,” said Jaideep Gangopadhyay, general manager (administration), RCGC.

Whyte & Mackay presents The Telegraph Xmas Eve at CC&FC

When: December 24, 8.30pm onwards.

Club call: The blue and white Christmas decor is already up at CC&FC, with string lights and fairy lights cascading from the trees and the buildings. The whole club is dressed up with Christmas trees, Santa and holly. The stage is set at the new air-conditioned shamiana at the club grounds for band Shiva to rock till midnight. DJ Bunty will then keep the crowd on its toes till dawn. The feast includes Chinese, Indian, Italian and Mughlai stalls as well as finger food.

“At Whyte & Mackay, it is a sheer delight to rub shoulders with the sporting members of CC&FC, who always believe in giving a little extra and work wonders. Merry Christmas,” said Kaushik Chatterjee, EVP and COO, USL (RPC-east).

Voiceover: “It will be a rocking evening and we expect about 1,300 to 1,500 people to show up. It is going to be a friendly crowd as everyone likes to bond during this festive occasion. There will be bonfires, great lighting, good food and lots of merrymaking,” smiled Deepankar Nandi, CEO, CC&FC.

Antiquity presents The Telegraph Xmas Eve at Saturday Club

When: December 24, 8.30pm onwards.

Club call: The Saturday Club celebrates a sparkling White Christmas 2009. Shayne Hyrapiet will win many a heart with his “snowflake” collection of English, Hindi and Punjabi hits, his troupe of talented dancers setting the pace. The exotic Russian dancer duo Alla and Lullia from Goa will add further spice while DJ Vicky will spin out the latest chartbusters and Bolly hits through the night.

“Our friends at Saturday Club reverberate with the fusion of English culture and Indian heritage. Wishing you a Christmas replete with fusion,” said Kaushik Chatterjee, EVP and COO, USL (RPC-east).

Voiceover: “Saturday Club wants its members and guests to be well-looked-after so that they have a wonderful evening. We are expecting about 2,000 guests and want to make sure that there is no pushing and shoving,” says Utpal Singh Roy, president, Saturday Club.

Black Dog Presents The Telegraph Xmas Eve at Tolly Club

When: December 24, 8.30pm onwards.

Club call: The red and green Christmas decor has at its core a 20ft-tall Christmas tree. Stars and bells and cascading fairy lights will convert the Bamboo Grove into a shimmering cove. The do starts with city-bred Latin jazz band, The Orient Express. DJ Aqeel will then take over, playing all the way till 2am with his dance floor scorchers like Tu hai wahi, Ek haseena thi and No 1 Punjabi. There will be Chinese, Indian and north Indian food counters.

“Black Dog waves a magic wand over you, and behold, you have an easy evening, across the plush green courses in Tolly, this Christmas and beyond,” said Kaushik Chatterjee, EVP and COO, USL (RPC-east).

What: Ballantine’s and The Telegraph present Sandeep Vyas and DJ Sanjeev on Xmas Eve.

Where: Calcutta Swimming Club.

When: December 24, 9pm onwards.

Club call: The choreographers of Aamir and Sanjeeda, the winners of Nach Baliye 3, will burn the dance floor along with Sandeep Vyas on vocals and DJ Sanjeev at the turntable. The music will be a mixed medley of old and new favourites. The Dhafrani brothers will play semi-classical tunes, similar to those heard on the tabla, on a dhol.

Voiceover: “We have a lot of youngsters attending our Christmas party. Expect a barbecue dinner and a special bar night,” says Sunil Daswani, chairman, youth wing, Calcutta Swimming Club.

 

What: Antiquity presents Fusion Christmas Party in association with The Telegraph.

Where: Calcutta Rowing Club.

When: December 24, 8pm onwards.

Club call: Fusion is the new F word, making its way into everything from food to wardrobe. And CRC adds a twist of fusion to its Christmas eve special, too. The evening’s entertainment starts with a fashion show on the main lawn, along with a dance troupe. Band Prathibo from Bangladesh will rock the party. The steak night promises something for everyone with mutton, chicken, beef and vegetarian victuals. Do remember to book your dinner at least a day in advance!

What: Signature presents Xmas Eve in association with The Telegraph.

Where: Lake Club.

When: December 24, 8pm onwards.

Club call: The Christmas eve extravaganza at Lake Club will have singers Vinod Rathod and Anupriya Roy Chowdhury churning out Bollywood hit melodies non-stop. Host Raj Sagar will add humour with his witty one-liners as DJ Leo keeps the party pumping till midnight.

Voiceover: “We will stage all our events on the main lawn. There will be awesome Indian, Chinese and Mughlai treats available at stalls,” says Subrata Guha, joint secretary, Lake Club.

What: Signature presents Xmas Eve in association with The Telegraph.

Where: Calcutta South Club.

When: December 24, 8pm onwards.

Club call: Tune into performances by singing troupe Aashmi and Francis Lepcha. English numbers dominate the song list with a sprinkling of Bolly beats. Around 400 to 500 guests are expected, and they will be treated to a Continental spread.

Voiceover: “Our club doesn’t have a New Year’s Eve night. So, we put a lot of effort into our Christmas celebrations,” says B.N. Dhupar, assistant secretary, Calcutta South Club.

 

What: The Telegraph presents Outram Club Winter Festival in association with Royal Stag.

When: December 24 to December 31.

Club call: The fun starts on Christmas Eve and continues for a week. Singer Preeti Bhalla from Mumbai takes over the stage on Day One, starting 8.30pm. Christmas Day will see a carnival and a round of Antakshari. A skit titled Bharate Chai will be performed by women members of the club on Day Three. Bhoomi rocks the stage on December 27 and dandiya comes calling on December 29. Babu Adda, a chat session with television actors and authors, will provide an opportunity for conversation on December 30, just before the celebrations reach a crescendo on December 31.
