Explosives, ganja haul in Guwahati
Guwahati: Police seized nearly 25kg ammonium nitrate, 100 detonators, 25 bundles of codex wire and 170kg ganja from Fatasil Ambari and arrested two persons on Sunday. A drug peddler, Gopal Singh, 31, was arrested when he was carrying the ganja in an autorickshaw. Based on his confession, the police raided the office of an automobile workshop located at Assam State Electricity Board colony and recovered the explosives. The police arrested the owner of the workshop, Amar Roy, 45.
Bandh call
Dhubri: The All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (Atul Roy faction) on Sunday called a 12-hour Assam bandh on Tuesday in protest against non-fulfillment of its demands.
Ganja destroyed
Imphal: The Narcotics Control Bureau destroyed 4,000kg ganja with face value of Rs 1,000 crore at Haotal in Imphal East on Saturday.
Man dead
Nagaon: Baparam Bora, 65, died after being hit by a bus at Jakhalabandha town in Morigaon district on Sunday.
Road mishap
Nagaon: Biman Doley, 10, died on the spot while Shyam Bori, 12, was seriously injured when they were hit by a Maruti van at Lotabori in Golaghat district on Sunday.
Fire
Dhubri: Fire gutted property worth nearly Rs 3 crore at Kuti village in Dhubri district on Saturday.
Nalbari toll 8
Guwahati: The death toll in the Nalbari blasts rose to eight with one more person, Mintu Barman, succumbing to his injuries on Sunday.
