Kohima, Nov. 28: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio today said the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government had decided to support the UPA government at the Centre as the ongoing Naga peace process has entered a critical stage.
Addressing the fifth general convention of the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) at Indira Gandhi stadium here today, Rio said the decision was taken in the greater interest of the state and the people as the Nagas need the support and cooperation of the Centre.
He stressed the need for an early solution to the Naga political problem through a negotiated settlement.
“Time and again we have reiterated that we will continue to play the role of an active facilitator in the peace process. Our party and the DAN government have tried our best to create a congenial and desired atmosphere,” the chief minister said.
