| Lord Mountbatten went on a boat trip with his family in Ireland on August 27, 1979. He never returned — a bomb planted by the IRA blew up the boat. Three others died with him — his grandson Nicholas, his daughters mother-in-law, the dowager Lady Brabourne, and a local teenager, Paul Maxwell. Three people survived — Mountbattens daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Timothy, Nicholass twin. Timothy Knatchbull put the events together in a book 30 years later. An extract. |
