Rituparna Sengupta checks out churis at Saakshis newest store at City Centre 2 on Sunday. The Rajarhat store is spread over 400sqft and is the chains fourth outlet in the city. The shops range includes kundan, polki, real stones, meenakari, oxidised silver and Italian silver jewellery. We want to reach out to people in various parts. This store will not only reach people in Rajarhat, but also VIP Road, Barasat, Madhyamgram and Jessore Road, said Nikhil Kothari, proprietor, Saakshi.

vis mania came alive at Calcutta Club on Saturday evening as Usha Uthup, Francis Lepcha, Priscilla Corner and Ananya came together. The evening, titled Surrender, featured hits from the singers body of work like Jailhouse Rock, Love Me Tender, Heartbreak Hotel and Blue Suede Shoes. Images of Elvis and his journey to
super-stardom also made for a visual treat. Its very exciting! And its wonderful to see members joining in, smiled Priscilla.

An event dubbed Tagoreana was held at Aqua, The Park, on November 19. Anecdotes by Chaitali Dasgupta, a history of the fashionable thakurbari women and Rabindra-sangeet accompanied the fashion show in which models showcased beautiful saris and dhutis worn in the traditional Bengali style. t2 columnist Rita Bhimani, danseuse Alokananda Roy, actresses Chaiti Ghoshal (in picture right) and actor Arindam Sil walked the ramp. The surprise of the evening was Sabitri Chatterjee (in picture above) with Nilanjana Chakraborty and Sudipa Basu.

To celebrate the appointment of the honorary consul of The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, a get-together was organised at the Oberoi Grand on Saturday evening. We hope to strengthen business and cultural ties between Luxembourg and this part of Bengal. In January, we are planning a high-level business delegation, said honorary consul Rajat Dalmia (picture top right, with the ambassador of The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to India).

First citizen
Harsh Neotia, chairman, Ambuja Realty, receives the First Citizen award at an event on November 20 at The Citizen Gallery, Park Street. The monthly award, given by mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharyya to felicitate present day achievers, honoured Bickram Ghosh last month and will recognise designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, actor-director-musician Anjan Dutt and actress Bipasha Basu in the coming months.
