Ensemble kicks off

Jamshedpur, Nov. 13: The XLRI campus was abuzz once again as Ensemble-2009, the much-talked-about B-school fest, began here today.

Celebrating its diamond jubilee, the theme of this year’s Ensemble is integrity and initiative. More than 50 institutes are participating in the event.

The fest was inaugurated by U.P. Agarwal, the president of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, who was also the keynote speaker of the signature event SBI Idea Summit.

“It was a great start. World billiards champion Michael Ferreira will grace the last day of the SBI Idea Summit,” said Jaison Jose, a media cell representative of XLRI.

At the summit, Agarwal spoke of the initiatives of ICAI to make Indian chartered accountancy world recognised. “The institute has signed a mutual recognition agreement with chartered accountant bodies of England, Canada and Australia. Also in the pipeline are an agreement with Ireland, Scotland and Singapore,” he said.

Agarwal added: “The global recognition will help our chartered accountants to bag opportunities outside the country.”

The day also aimed at testing management knowledge with fun games. With a prize money of Rs 60,000, the game is a stimulating assortment of challenging situations bound together by constraints of time, money and human resource.

Retaliate, a marketing simulation game, was also organised by the marketing association of XLRI. Other events included Adventura, a quiz for adventure lovers and Campus Blitzkrieg.
