Police drub Yaiskul

Imphal, Nov. 10: Manipur Police Sports Club pounded Yaiskul Athletic Club by 14-2 goals in the 3rd Manipur Hockey League at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium here today.

Yaiskul, continuing with their poor run in the league, are yet to come up with a win while it was almost like a practice run for the policemen today. Police forward P. Adeva came up with half the goals in the game.

It was a freewheeling game for the policemen as Yaiskul crumbled under its attack, with the score reading 11-0 in the first half itself.

Bikram Singh opened the score for Manipur Police from a penalty corner conversion.

Adeva came up with seven goals, Th. Birjit Singh with four while N. Gunamani Singh and Th. Herojit Singh fetched one each.

Yaiskul Athletic Club’s goals came from Kh. Dhanajit Singh. The Man of the Match title went to Manipur Police Sports Club player Th. Birjit Singh.

OIL Challenge

Punjab Police, Jalandhar will take on Oil India Ltd, Duliajan in the final of the 5th OIL India Challenge Gold Cup Football Tournament at OIL Nehru Maidan, Duliajan, reports our correspondent from Dibrugarh.

The final will be played tomorrow.

In the second semi-final today, Punjab Police edged out Vasco Sports Club, Goa 3-2 via tiebreaker. The match ended in a goalless draw.

In the tiebreaker, Shiraz Hassan, Mandeep Singha and Harshdeep Singh of Punjab Police managed to score while Prasanta Chakravarty and Milagrio Medeira scored for Vasco SC.

Binode Brahma soccer: Banargaon Anchalik Committee, All Bodo Students Union, today defeated Daluabari Binco Sports Club 5-4 via tiebreakers to move ahead in the 2nd Binode Brahma Trophy Football Tournament at Banargaon Kagrabari sports ground in Kokrajhar, reports our correspondent.

Nijam Mushahary of Banargaon scored the first goal and Enzilal Ekka equalised the score.

The Banargaon side got the better of Daluabari in the tiebreakers 4-3.

Global Sports Club will play Sayamaya Sports Club on Thursday.
