Militant killed

Dhubri, Nov. 6: An NDFB cadre was killed in an encounter with Goalpara police at Rongjuli in Goalpara district early today. The militant is yet to be identified.

Diesel seized

Silchar: A huge quantity of adulterated diesel was seized after a two-day raid by Cachar district administration, police and the district supply office on a godown at Natunbazar, 12km from Silchar.

Bandh effect

Dhubri: The 12-hour Goalpara bandh called by the Garo National Council on Friday demanding change of nomenclature of Rabha-Hasong Council to Tribal Council passed off peacefully.

CM directive

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday directed state chief secretary to constitute an expert committee headed by environmentalist Dulal Chandra Goswami to examine issues like water availability, flood and erosion in the light of China’s reported move to divert water from the Brahmaputra.
