Jamshedpur, Nov. 6: Another 10 new polling booths in the East Singhbhum district will be shifted to new buildings in the first phase of the Assembly election, scheduled to be held November 25
Earlier, the district administration had decided to shift 41 polling booths located in Naxalite-affected areas of the district to safer places.
Deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum R.K. Agarwal informed that the 10 polling booths would be shifted as the existing buildings were in a dilapidated condition and were unfit for use.
The state poll panel has given a green light to shift the booths that fall in three of the six Assembly segments in the district. While five of them are located in Jamshedpur (West), four are in Jugsalai and one in Ghatshila.
The administration had taken up the matter with political parties. The decision to shift the booths was taken after a consensus was reached.
“We will make a public announcement about the relocation before the election so that voters don’t face any inconvenience in finding their new booths,” an official added.
