Bangalore, Nov. 4: Bangalore police, investigating the murders of Rahul Das, an interior designer from Assam, his wife Pushpalatha and minor daughter Agneesha, yesterday arrested a real estate developer in connection with the crime.
Ramesh Das, a former landlord of the interior designer, is the fourth person to be arrested.
The police had earlier arrested the interior designer’s ex-employee, Lokesh, and his two accomplices, Murali and Bhaskar.
The real estate developer’s arrest was based on information given by the trio to the police during information.
The police now maintain that Ramesh was friendly with Das’ wife and offered Lokesh money to get the designer killed.
The police in their earlier statement said that Lokesh had committed the crime out of greed.
“Our information is that Rs 3 lakh was to be paid (to the killers),” said M. Chandra Shekar, deputy commissioner of police (east).
Das had shifted to another house in the Ramamurthy Nagar locality here recently.
A quarrel had taken place between the two men sometime ago and Das knew of his wife’s relationship with Ramesh, the police said.
Lokesh and his two accomplices, whom the police arrested last week, revealed their links with Ramesh during interrogation.
The three had allegedly gone to Das’s house on October 20, the day of the murders, when he was alone at home.
The trio told the police that it was on Ramesh’s instructions that they collected gold jewellery and cash from the house after strangulating Das.
