IT seal on Koda official residence
Koda

Ranchi, Nov. 4: Income-tax authorities today sealed a part of the official residence of Madhu Koda even as the Enforcement Directorate summoned the former Jharkhand chief minister and his associates, charged with money laundering, for further questioning.

Koda’s wife Geeta is attending to her husband in Apollo Hospital, where he was admitted yesterday after complaining of giddiness and nausea.

The ED summon, delivered at the hospital, directed Koda and his seven associates to be present at the agency’s Delhi office fromNovember 9 for three days of questioning.

The ED has lodged Enforcement Case Information Reports under the Indian Penal Code, Prevention of Corruption Act and Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Koda, in the ICU, showed some improvement today. Apollo medical superintendent P.D. Sinha said he would be shifted to the general ward tomorrow. I-T officials have written to the hospital authorities asking them to inform the department before discharging the leader.

Koda’s alleged hawala transactions and investments run into more than Rs 2,000 crore. The money was allegedly made from irregularities in granting mining leases when he was in power.
