Dhanbad, Oct. 21: Dhanbad division of East Central Railway has decided to add extra coaches to Bihar-bound passenger trains in view of the huge rush for Chhath.

Five extra coaches have been added to Ganga-Damodar Express plying between Dhanbad and Patna at night while one each have been attached to Maurya Express and Ganga Sutlej Ludhiana Express.

Additional sleeper coaches will be attached as per the waiting list and an extra coach will be added for every 100 passengers on all Bihar bound trains.

This apart, Hatia Gorakhpur Express running through Dhanbad will make extra trips as the Duplicate Express. The authorities have also made arrangements to add two general coaches in the Hatia Jainagar train at Dhanbad railway station.

Divisional railway manager Anand Shankar Upadhyay said the decision was taken in view of the huge rush of passengers headed for Bihar during the festival.

Senior public relations officer of Dhanbad division of East Central Railway Amrendra Das said: “In most of the Bihar bound trains there is a long waiting list. Extra coaches or trains will help clear the rush. Intercity Express running between Dhanbad and Gaya is also witnessing rush during morning hours.”

He added that the arrangement would remain in place till the end of Chhath Puja.

Long-distance buses running between Bihar and Jharkhand are also running packed.
