Five killed in Chandel accident
Imphal: Five passengers were killed and 14 were injured when the truck in which they were travelling, met with an accident at Modi in Chandel district on Saturday. They were returning from Chandel district headquarters. Assam Rifles personnel provided medical aid and took the injured to Chandel government hospital.
Worker dead
Guwahati: Putul Bhatta, 27, was found dead with head injuries at Christian Basti around 11.30pm on Saturday. Police Bhatta, an employee of Kusum Hotel, fell from the hotel’s roof.
Remanded
Sivasagar: Mriganka Hazarika, the main accused in the murder of Congress leader Bijit Gogoi, was remanded in five days’ police custody on Sunday. He was arrested from Jorhat on Saturday.
Injured
Kokrajhar: College student Govinda Boro was injured when unidentified assailants fired at him near Gangia in Kokrajhar district on Sunday. He was taken to Kokrajhar Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital.
Attacked
Kokrajhar: A couple, Raghu Murmu and Munni Hasda, were seriously injured when criminals attacked them with sharp weapons at their residence at Kachugaon Ramendrapur Jaleswari in Kokrajhar district on Saturday night.
Electrocuted
Dhubri: Karen Das died of electrocution at a medicine shop in Dhubri town on Saturday night.
