Md. Sporting storm into final
- Calcutta team faces N. Imphal tomorrow

Nagaon, Oct. 13: Md. Sporting, Calcutta today blanked Kidderpore Sports Club 2-0 in the second semi-final match of the 61st Independence Day Cup all-India invitation football tournament at Nurul Amin Stadium here.

They will now take on North Imphal Sporting Association in the final on Thursday.

Md. Sporting playmaker Sasthy Duley made two attempts in the second and 10th minutes of the match, but they were well-anticipated by the opponent defence to be foiled.

In the 18th minute, Duley sent a great pass to Eduardo Escobar, who scored the first goal of the match. Duley later sent another stunner to right-winger Dipendu Biswas, who scored the second goal of the match in the 40th minute.

Kidderpore SC got ample opportunities in both the halves of the match, but they lacked the sting to trouble their Calcutta counterparts.

North Imphal Sporting Association defeated last year’s runners-up Oil India FC, Duliajan by a solitary goal in the first semi-final on Monday.

Green Valley in final

Green Valley SC, Guwahati, stormed into the final of 12th Daoharu Mungkhlong Football tournament at Dotma Sports ground, defeating Sports Authority of India (SAI), Kokrajhar 2-0, says our correspondent from Kokrajhar.
