Jamshedpur, Oct. 9: Cadets of Tata Boxing Centre (TBC) outshone other pugilists at the 6th Jharkhand State Boxing Championship that kicked off at JRD Tata Sports Complex today.
Dimple Bambra shrugged off her first round exit in the recently concluded 10th National Meet by knocking out Suleksha Roy of West Singhbhum in the senior women’s light fly section before fellow TBC cadet Anisha Tirkey busted the challenge of Priti Masih (Ranchi) in the featherweight category.
Sunita Ekka brought more smiles to TBC by defeating Lakshmi Murmu of East Singhbhum 2-1 in the flyweight category. Dimple, a promising boxer, displayed top form in the bout versus Sulesksha. She won on referee stops contest in the first round as Anisha emerged unanimous winner, thanks to her superlative form during the bout.
Though Lakshmi tried hard to stay in the contest against Sunita, she lost momentum as the bout progressed. The former lost 1-2 as Sunita proved a tough opponent.
Anil Jaiswal, the vice-president of JBA, said 10 districts namely East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Lohardaga, Gumla, Bokaro, Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad and Koderma are participating. The TBC is participating as an affiliated unit of state boxing association.
