Villagers protest
Shillong, Oct.8:
Hundreds of villagers closed down the Cement Manufacturing Company Limited known as Star Cements at Lumshnong, 150km from here today, demanding 100 per cent coal supply by the members of Narpuh. Coal is used in the kilns to burn limestone to produce cement.

Seven
persons

injured
when police lathicharged a mob which allegedly tried to capture a polling booth of the co-operative society at Borhola in Morigaon district on Thursday.
Jumbo attack
Sivasagar:
Sishok Tanti, an ex-tea garden labourer, was injured when a herd of wild elephants attacked him in Shinglopathar area near Abhayapur reserve forest in Sivasagar district on Wednesday evening.
Cheque
Golaghat:
The family of Keshab Konowar was given a cheque of Rs 3 lakh by the Golaghat district administration on Thursday. Konowar was killed by unidentified men at his residence in 1998.

Dhubri:
Police arrested Rafiqul Islam of Subhas Nagar with 850 strips of Proxyvon tablets on Thursday.
