Bokaro, Oct. 7: The new superintendent of police (SP) Saket Singh is brimming with enthusiasm as he brings his seven years of experience in Maoist-hit districts to his responsibilities to Bokaro.
Promising better law & order, a strong check on economic offences and a total curb on Maoists activities in the district, Singh said that he will not hesitate to arrest even top politicians if they try to create hurdles for him.
On political interference, he pointed out that he had vast experience working as the rural SP of Ranchi and he knew how to deal with such politicians.
On the modernisation and expansion of Bokaro Steel Plant being hampered due to non-construction and demolition of a boundary wall, the new SP said he would not allow anyone to take the law in their hands.
“Bokaro faces both Naxalite and economic problems but with the help of the masses, who can provide me vital information, I will prove my mettle,” Singh told The Telegraph.
“Till now, I have mostly served in Naxalite-hit zones of Palamau, Garhwa and Ranchi. In places like Tamar and Bundu, the Naxalites opt for a direct attack on the security forces whereas in this zone Maoists play a hide-and-seek game,” he said.
His gameplan?
“No SP will succeed unless he gets mass support and right information at the right moment. I appeal to the masses to take one step forward and assure them that the police will come many steps forward to help them,” he said, adding that “the new friendly face of the police” and transparency would be evident soon.
