Assam employees defer agitation
Guwahati: The Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP), the apex body of state government employees, on Sunday said it has decided against announcing any agitation till October 15 over the delay in submission of the Pay Commission’s report recommenmding revised payscales. SAKP president P. Bora told the Telegraph that in view of the assurance given by the chief minister that no more extension would be given to the commission beyond October 15, the union has adopted a wait-and-watch policy.

Seized
Dhubri: Police on Sunday seized 24 heads of cattle from a truck at Paikan in Goalpara district. Four persons have been arrested in this connection.
SSA plan
Guwahati: Sarva Siksha Abjhiyan, Assam, is going ahead with its plan to have a District Information System for Education. An official of the SSA said on Sunday that the information system would have data on the number of children, classrooms and teachers of all the lower primary, upper primary and primary schools of the state.
Dhaka probe
Dhaka: Bangladesh’s former home secretary Omar Faruque was questioned by sleuths on Saturday as part of a fresh probe into the country’s biggest weapons haul in 2004 when 10 truckloads of arms suspected to be destined for Ulfa hideouts in the Northeast were seized, officials in Dhaka said on Sunday.
