Bagan letter to AIFF
Mohun Bagan shot a six-page letter to the All India Football Federation president Praful Patel Thursday, alleging mishandling on the part of the federation in the Bhaichung Bhutia issue. Bagan wrote that a “disastrous decision” was taken. The letter also reiterated that Bagan would not hesitate to take the matter to the court, and Fifa, if the situation demands.
Meanwhile, East Bengal discard Edmilson is set to sign in favour of Chirag United on Saturday. The Brazilian may play the club’s I-League opener against Mohun Bagan on Monday. Bagan striker Jose Barreto, who is nursing a minor injury, said on Thursday that he was confident of playing on Monday.
Mervyn Kozonvuizi, a Fifa agent from South Africa, would be watching all I-League matches across the country to select promising footballers for the South African league. He is expected to arrive next week.
Cricket meet
Rain interrupted the first day of both the matches of the Cricket Association of Bengal organised SK Acharya Trophy Thursday. The CAB Blue vs CAB Green and CAB Red vs CAB White matches have now been extended till Saturday.
Kamal no more
Former India high-jumper Kamal Chatterjee passed away on Thursday. Chatterjee, who was 80, represented India in the 1952 Asian Games.
