Highway blocked
Dibrugarh, Sept. 30:
Several organisations, led by the Muttock Students’ Union, blocked NH 37 at Lahowal in Dibrugarh district today for half-an-hour after a speeding car knocked down a girl at 8am. The child has been admitted to AMCH in a critical condition.
Bandh
Tinsukia:
No untoward incident was reported during the 24-hour Tinsukia district bandh called by Aituc on Wednesday. The union had called the bandh to protest police’s failure to arrest the culprits who physically assaulted three of its members on September 17.
Minors drown
Dhubri:
Two minors, Narzina Khatoon, 8, and Saddam Hussein, 7, of Austami Char village, drowned in Tipkai river on Wednesday while bathing.
