Dhubri, Sept. 5: Imdad Ullah, 26, and Afzal Hoque, 27, alleged to be fake currency traffickers, were apprehended last night by jawans of the 3 Sikh Regiment from Makri village under Goalpara police station with fake notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination.

Lightning death

A man identified as Surendra Basumatary, 52, of Kakormari in Kokrajhar died when lightning struck him on Saturday. The victim was herding cattle when the incident occurred.

Rape charge on leader: The president of Chandrapur block Congress, Babul Gogoi, 60, was arrested on Saturday on charges of raping a nine-year-old at Bonda under Panikhaiti police outpost in Guwahati. Gogoi allegedly raped the girl in his grocery shop on Friday.
