Bandh response

Kokrajhar, Sept. 2: The 12-hour Assam bandh called by the All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam today demanding proper rehabilitation of those affected the 1996 and 1998 ethnic riots evoked mixed response in the Bodo belt.

BTC move

Kokrajhar: The Bodoland Territorial Council on Wednesday went online with chief executive member Hagrama Mohilary launching the official website www.bodoland.in at a programme held in the BTC secretariat.

Arrested

Dhubri: Eight trans-border smugglers were arrested from different places in Dhubri district on Tuesday.

Demand

Guwahati: A BTC delegation, headed by transport minister Chandan Brahma, on Wednesday moved Governor Syed Sibtey Razi for immediate appointment of the vice-chancellor of the newly set-up Kokrajhar University.

Instruction

Guwahati: The Assam PCC has instructed its office-bearers to get the membership drive over by December 31. The instruction was given at an office-bearers’ meeting on Tuesday.
