Sania, Somdev slip

Calcutta: Sania Mirza and Somdev Dev Varman found themselves sliding in the singles rankings going into the US Open Monday.

Sania, unseeded at the year’s last Slam, slipped three spots to No.74 on the WTA singles chart while Somdev lost a place to No.162.

On the doubles list again, Sania slipped a place from last week’s No.48 to be at No.49.

The men’s doubles stalwarts — Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes — saw no change in their status and were at No.7 and No.8 respectively.

Roger Federer and Dinara Safina continued at the top of their respective charts.
