Sengupta leads
IM Deep Sengupta of Jharkhand continued his winning streak on Friday to lead the table with nine points, after the completion of the 10th round of National Challenger Chess Championship being held at the Town Hall. Deep easily outwitted T. Abhay of Tamil Nadu in Sicilian defence.
B. Adhiban of Tamil Nadu was in the second spot with eight points. Sayantan Das of Bengal upset IM Dinesh Kumar Singh in 44 moves in Ruy Lopez opening.
TTIS soccer
MP Birla Foundation High School defeated Burnpur Boys’ High School 4-2 in a quarter final clash of the Suthol TTIS Soccer 09 at Vivekananda Park on Friday.

Motor rally
The Bengal Motor Sports Club (BMSC) will organise the Extra Mile Rally, 2009. The event will be flagged off from the Salt Lake Stadium at 8 am on August 30 and will end at the same venue. Twenty cars and 20 motorcycles are expected to participate in the rally.
