Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Wednesday revealed that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has sought a Rs 25 crore grant for the development of the game in the country.
That the AIFF had made such a request was reported by The Telegraph on August 4.
Praful Patel (acting president of the AIFF) has approached us for a grant of Rs 25 crore for the development of football, said BCCIs finance committee chairman Rajiv Shukla.
No Pak tour
Karachi: Zimbabwe Wednesday turned down an invitation to send their under-19 team to Pakistan owing to the volatile security in the country. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Zimbabwe had security concerns about playing in Pakistan after which it was decided to send the Pakistan under-19 team to the African country later this year.

Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ejaz Butt has warned against complacency creeping among cricketers and said there is no place for unworthy players in the national side.
I want to make it clear that only those players would be considered for the Champions Trophy who deserve to be in the side. There is no place for players not willing to give 100 per cent, Butt said.

Steyn cleared
Johannesburg: Fast bowler Dale Steyn has been cleared of any doping offence by the Indian Premier League (IPL), Cricket South Africa (CSA) said on Wednesday. Steyn had been asked to clarify why elevated levels of morphine were found during a random drugs test while he was playing for the Bangalore Royal Challengers in April. Steyn blamed the medication he took for migraines for the irregular findings.
Row resolved
Johannesburg: With the dispute between CSA and Gauteng Cricket Board resolved, the Wanderers stadium here will once again host international matches, starting with three games during England's tour to South Africa later this year. "CSA agrees to reinstate all the England tour games for the forthcoming tour in November, December and January," the CSA and GCB said in a joint statement.

Calcutta: Englands Chris Broad was Wednesday appointed match referee for the upcoming tri-nation ODI series between India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. West Indian Billy Doctrove will be the on-field umpire for the short series in Sri Lanka. ICC elite panel umpire Doctrove will stand in all the four ODIs along with a local appointment.
