Guwahati, Aug. 10: Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club today edged past Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Club by a solitary goal in their RG Baruah Trophy Guwahati Sports Association Super Division football league at Nehru Stadium here.
Playing on a waterlogged ground, the evenly poised match witnessed a far better show of football by the SAI greenhorns.
Bhaskarjyoti Bora ruffled the net with solo efforts for the only goal in the 66th minute.
In the Jibeswar Goswami first division league, Gauhati Town Club (GTC) edged past arch-rivals Maharana Athletic Club 3-2 on the second ground, which was also waterlogged.
Tomba Singh netted the first goal for the GTC, enchanced by African recruit skipper Felix Agamiaro in the 55th minute. Janap Basumatary pumped in the third goal for the side in the 57th minute. In the 73rd minute, Sibul Namasudra finally found the net for the first salvo and substitute Gokul Boro further reduced the margin during the injury time.
Jewel Star Club meet Assam Police Blues in the Super league tomorrow, while Narakasur Jyoti Sangha clash with Rajbari Athletic Club in the first division league.
