Rebels held, arms haul in Karimganj

Silchar, Aug. 6: The BSF seized at least 10kg of high powered explosives and 80 electric detonators at Malaidigi village under Badarpur block in Karimganj district on Wednesday night.

An official release issued by the Mizoram and Cachar frontier force of the BSF from its headquarters in Masimpur near here said the explosives were concealed in a hideout of suspected militants.

The BSF raided the hideout after a tip-off.

They also apprehended three suspected militants, Samsuddin, Nelabuddin, and Jamaluddin, who are being interrogated at present.

A BSF source said the youths might belong to the PULF, a militant group, which has been carrying out terror strikes in Manipur and adjoining Cachar district.

The Azad faction of the PULF is now regrouping itself in Manipur’s Chandel district and in Assam’s Cachar and Karimganj districts.
