Godrej buyout appetite

Calcutta, Aug. 3: Godrej Consumer Products is looking for acquisitions worth up to Rs 1,000 crore abroad. The soap and hair-colour maker intends to sell its products in China, Latin America, Africa, Far East and West Asia. “Negotiations are on but nothing has been finalised yet. We are also in talks with merchant bankers to ink some good deal,” Godrej Consumer Products vice-chairman Hoshedar K. Press said.

Philips plan

New Delhi, Aug. 3: Durables major Philips Electronics India will introduce new products particularly designed to suit Indian consumers. “In the next 6 to 12 months, Philips will introduce more products in India, particularly in the kitchen appliances segment,” said Murali Srinivasan, Philips Electronics India CEO.

Daiichi win

Tokyo/New Delhi, Aug. 3: Daiichi Sankyo today said that a US court had ruled in its favour in a patent litigation against Mylan Inc and its Indian subsidiary, Matrix Laboratories. The patent litigation was for the anti-hypertensive drug, Benicar. Mylan had filed an abbreviated new drug application seeking to market generic versions of those products before the expiration of Daiichi’s patent.

Investor wealth

New Delhi, Aug. 3: Investor wealth swelled by nearly Rs 77,000 crore today with the BSE sensex surging to a 14-month high of 15924.23 points. The total investor wealth has increased to over Rs 52 lakh crore.
