B’day bash

Air castles, magic show, tattoo art and a Disney merry-go-round transformed The Spring Club’s Zion into Toon Land for the VIP Road club’s second birthday bash on July 26. Green and white balloons — “the colours of nature” — and lots of games added to the fun. “Our aim was to have children come and enjoy and also become a little more aware of the environment,” said Sanjeev Ghosh, general manager, The Spring Club.

The kids rolled in a pool of balls, bounced around in the air castle or got Goofy, Batman, Spiderman and pretty daisies tattooed on their faces. We overheard six-year-old Devika Jogani telling her mother firmly, “I won’t wash my tattoo off.” While the kids had their share of fun, parents hit the live pasta counter or tucked into some Aloo Tikki Chaat, Chicken Malai Kebab and American Fish Finger.

At 7.30pm, it was time to sing the birthday song and cut the chocolate cake. Next, Sammrat Sarckar with his Challengers dance troupe from Mumbai took to Zion’s makeshift stage and the party got rolling with Bolly staples like Khuda jaane, Jai ho, Dhan te nan and Haule haule along with retro tracks like An evening in Paris, haseena zulfonwali and Dil deke dekho. DJ Sachin followed with his repertoire of desi club music.

“This has been a very eventful year for us. During this period of downturn, we were strong and we fared well. When we opened we were about 900 members and now we are 1,850,” said Sanjeev Ghosh.
