New Delhi, July 30: The contraction in price index was higher at (-)1.54 per cent for the week ended July 18 compared with (-)1.17 per cent in the previous week, though prices of essential items such as cereals, pulses, and fruits and vegetables remained high.

Falcon bonus

Calcutta, July 30: The board of directors of Falcon Tyres has recommended a bonus of two shares for every equity held. The board has also recommended splitting its equity shares of face value of Rs 10 into two equity shares of Rs 5 each.

Bharti-MTN

New Delhi, July 30: The government today said Bharti Airtel and MTN were yet to finalise talks on a proposed merger. “Bharti has to seek the government’s approval as and when any change is proposed in its equity shareholding,” company affairs minister Salman Khurshid said.
