Ulfa rebel arrested
Dibrugarh, July 29:
An Ulfa cadre, Bastav Bora alias Rupjyoti Gogoi, was arrested in a joint operation by police and the army from a restaurant near Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, today. A grenade, 3kg TNT and explosives were seized from him.
Expelled
Golaghat:
Two Class XII students of Golaghat Chinatoli-based Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Gauranga Dutta and Bikram Bora, were expelled on Wednesday on charges of bringing liquor inside the school hostel on Tuesday.
Two injured
Dhubri:
Two villagers, Josan Ali, 60, and Noor Jahan Begum, 25, of Sibpara village under Fakirganj police station in Dhubri district were seriously injured when lightning struck them on Wednesday night.

Dhubri:
A rogue elephant has damaged several betelnut gardens and uprooted houses in villages adjacent to the Indo-Bhutan border in Baksa district.

Til Bahadur Chetri died when he was crushed under a mound on a hill slope at Ledo in Tinsukia district on Tuesday.
